The UK on the verge of recognizing Moroccan Sovereignty over it’s Sahara !

Following the recognition by the United States and, more recently, by France of Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara, all signs indicate that the United Kingdom is also on the brink of acknowledging Morocco’s legitimacy over this region.
Reliable diplomatic sources suggest that one of the most revealing signs is the decision by the London Court of Appeal in May 2022. This decision rejected the request from several NGOs supporting the Polisario, which sought to annul the partnership agreement between Morocco and the UK, signed on December 30, 2020.
The geopolitical context also plays a crucial role in this matter. The UK, having traditionally maintained an almost “permanent alliance” with the United States, is unlikely to remain neutral on the Sahara issue. It is therefore highly probable that London will follow the example set by Washington and Tel Aviv.
According to the same diplomatic sources, everything suggests that the UK’s decision to support Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara has already been made and that an official declaration to this effect is imminent. The decision by the London Court of Appeal constitutes a definitive judgment, rejecting the demands of the pro-Polisario British organizations and thereby confirming the legitimacy of the bilateral agreements between Morocco and the UK.
On the economic front, several indicators also point to a rapprochement between the UK and Morocco concerning the Sahara. Since the UK’s exit from the European Union, economic and commercial agreements have been signed between Rabat and London. The UK is looking to compensate for lost trade with the EU by turning to Morocco, particularly for agricultural products.
In the field of renewable energy, relations between the two countries are also rapidly strengthening. A project for the longest undersea cable of its kind is planned to allow the transfer of electricity from Morocco to the UK. This initiative will further reinforce bilateral ties between the two nations.
In summary, all elements converge towards an imminent recognition by the UK of Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara, marking a new step in strengthening relations between the two countries.
