Algeria’s Propaganda Machine: Fake News and Manipulated Photos Target Moroccan Security Forces

The malicious maneuvers of the Algerian military junta, perpetually seeking to destabilize Morocco, appear to have reached a new level of indecency with the dissemination of fake news and manipulated images. An organized disinformation campaign aims to tarnish the image of the Kingdom, notably through the use of falsified photographs to discredit Moroccan security forces. Among these misleading images is a series of photos showing purportedly Moroccan migrants sitting naked on the ground in front of Auxiliary Forces vehicles, insinuating supposed brutality.

These photos, widely shared on social media, seek to suggest that these young men attempted to illegally enter the occupied enclave of Ceuta during the tragic events of the weekend of September 15. However, this is nothing more than a brazen manipulation. Local authorities in Fnideq swiftly debunked this version of events, clarifying that these images are old photographs with no connection to recent intrusion attempts.

The perfidy of the Algerian junta is further evidenced by another image, showing young people lined up against a wall. A thorough analysis of this image demonstrates that it didn’t even originate in Morocco, further confirming the extent of the ongoing manipulations.

These destabilization attempts, through the spread of false information and doctored images, reveal the Algerian military regime’s desperation to cover up its own failures, particularly diplomatic ones, in the Sahara issue. In their efforts to tarnish Morocco’s image and undermine its relations with its partners, especially Spain, the Algerian junta exposes its dishonest and desperate strategy.

It is more crucial than ever to denounce these disgraceful maneuvers and to remind that Morocco’s stability, as well as the solidarity of its citizens and security forces, remains unshaken by the defamatory campaigns orchestrated by a regime that is losing credibility. Morocco, resilient as ever, will continue to move forward with determination in the face of these low attempts at manipulation.
