Federico Banzola, the tailor redefining masculine elegance, shares his success story (Exclusive Interview)

Le7tv had the immense privilege of conducting an exclusive interview with Federico Banzola, the talented Franco-Italian tailor and designer who has revolutionized men’s fashion. A true artisan of elegance, he welcomed us into his prestigious showroom and workshop, Banzola Collection, located in the heart of Casablanca’s Racine district. A captivating encounter with a visionary creator whose expertise combines tradition and modernity to elevate the art of men’s clothing.
Le7tv: Mr. Federico Banzola, you’ve been based in Morocco for 15 years. What attracted you to launch your brand, Banzola Collection, here, and how did Casablanca become a strategic hub for your business?
Federico Banzola: This might surprise you, but it was actually the most wonderful twist of fate. I initially came to Morocco on vacation, visiting Marrakech like so many others, and, like many, I fell in love with the city—its people, its culture, its lifestyle. I decided to stay, but what truly sealed the deal was meeting master tailors. By chance, I discovered an entire tailoring culture in Morocco that I had been unaware of. These encounters made me realize there was an adventure waiting here, an opportunity to create something unique.
I opened my first workshop in Marrakech, but demand quickly began coming from Casablanca. Marrakech is a place where I catered to many event-related needs, such as weddings, but Casablanca, being larger and more of a business hub, became indispensable. After frequent back-and-forth trips, I decided to open a boutique in Casablanca due to the high demand. That’s how the Casablanca journey began.
Le7tv: Banzola Collection offers an innovative approach to bespoke tailoring. Could you explain the concept of “Sartorial Style” and how it reinvents the traditional Italian Made in Italy craftsmanship?
Federico Banzola: At Banzola, we don’t claim to own the “Sartorial Style.” It’s a family of styles that many tailoring houses—both classic and contemporary—have embraced. Sartorial Style is rooted in tailoring codes, which are specific design elements that signal handcrafted garments. It’s about geometry, silhouette, lapels, and cuts that are unmistakably tailored.
The Made in Italy concept is my comfort zone. Italy, alongside England, has preserved its artisanal traditions, much like Morocco. While other countries may have leaned more toward industrial production, Italy has retained a strong foundation of handmade craftsmanship. Naturally, we manufacture in Italy, and I dare say—with a bit of national pride—that Italian garments are among the finest in the world. Wouldn’t you agree?
Le7tv: You use rare and noble fabrics for your shirts, blazers, and suits. Why is the choice of materials essential to your vision of men’s fashion?
Federico Banzola: Much like a jeweler who prefers noble metals or a chef who insists on the best ingredients, a master tailor thrives on premium fabrics. While there are modern and cost-effective alternatives, nothing compares to fine wool or cashmere spun in Italy’s artisanal tradition.
Each country has its unique textiles. Morocco, for example, offers irreplaceable silks and fabrics that reflect its cultural heritage. In the world of tailoring, Italy, England, and France remain the top sources for exceptional materials. To create truly remarkable pieces for our clients, we must use these exceptional fabrics.
Le7tv: Timeless fashion is increasingly sought after. How does Banzola Collection incorporate this concept of durability into its production processes?
Federico Banzola: That’s an excellent question. Interestingly, what seems like a new trend—timeless fashion—is intrinsic to tailoring. As master tailors, we’ve always been guardians of timeless style, much like chefs are custodians of culinary tradition.
Tailoring is inherently timeless because it is rooted in precision, craftsmanship, and quality. Clients are rediscovering this after a period where fast fashion dominated. Much like the movement toward organic food, people are returning to authentic craftsmanship.
Le7tv: Banzola Collection offers a unique bespoke service in Morocco, ranging from suits and shirts to evening wear and casual attire. How do you balance this varied offering with excellence in craftsmanship?
Federico Banzola: Excellence is a discipline. It’s all about following the process. A suit, for example, involves over 80 operations. By respecting each step without cutting corners, we achieve the desired quality.
For ready-to-wear, we’ve developed a short supply chain with a production line near Casablanca. This allows us to import European fabrics, design locally, and offer accessible products without compromising on quality. Ultimately, it’s a team effort, with every member contributing to upholding our standards.
Le7tv: Your team is known for its expertise. How do you ensure precision and refinement in every garment, and how do you train your staff to maintain such high quality?
Federico Banzola: Passion is the foundation of everything. When hiring, my first question is always, “What are you passionate about?” Passion drives excellence.
In Morocco, I’ve found an ingrained culture of elegance and craftsmanship. From upholsterers to maâlems, there’s a deep understanding of refined artistry. Training in tailoring builds on these existing skills, and I’ve been amazed by the ideas and creativity my team brings to the table. It’s truly a collaborative effort.
Le7tv: Clients of Banzola Collection are known for their high standards. What personalization options are most in demand, and why do you think this is the case?
Federico Banzola: The most sought-after customization begins with fabric choice. We’ve partnered with renowned fabric houses like Scabal and Vitale Barberis Canonico, giving clients access to exclusive materials.
Our atelier, visible within the boutique, also allows for precise and rapid adjustments. This unique setup reflects our commitment to delivering tailored perfection.
Le7tv: What are your future plans for Banzola Collection in Morocco? Are you considering expansion to other cities or international markets?
Federico Banzola: Absolutely, we’re already working on it. For instance, we’ve partnered with Medinale, a platform showcasing Moroccan artisans to Middle Eastern and U.S. markets.
We’re also focused on expanding our presence locally and internationally. Developing a production line in Morocco has been a key step toward opening additional boutiques in new cities.
