Moroccan Students Excel in Regional and National Rankings at OxfordAQA Go Further Awards

Moroccan students from London Academy Rabat and Casablanca have achieved remarkable success at the prestigious OxfordAQA Go Further Awards, earning top marks and recognition on both national and regional levels. These awards celebrate outstanding students worldwide who achieve the highest scores in their examinations.

Outstanding Performances

Two Moroccan students, Hafsa Mouzoune and Aymen Benmagha, emerged as leading achievers in the Middle East. Hafsa secured the highest regional mark in International GCSE Business, while Aymen earned the top score in International GCSE Mathematics.

Hafsa also claimed the national title for International GCSE Business in Morocco, while Aymen excelled across multiple subjects, including Mathematics, Computer Science, and Combined Science. Another notable achiever, Khadija Samb, earned the highest national mark in International GCSE English as a Second Language (ESL).

A Legacy of Excellence

The CEO and Founder of London Academy Rabat and Casablanca, Samir Benmakhlouf, expressed immense pride in these achievements, emphasizing the school’s commitment to academic excellence. He noted, “We are proud today to have been awarded by OxfordAQA in the Middle East Conference in Egypt with eight Excellence Awards for our top-performing students, teachers, and overall performance as a leading British school in Morocco and the region.”

Since its inception, London Academy has graduated over 60 students, with all gaining admission to prestigious universities, including the University of Oxford, Columbia University, the University of Manchester, and Northeastern University. Many of these students have also received scholarships in recognition of their academic achievements.

Speaking to press, Benmakhlouf highlighted the importance of fostering high academic standards. “High grades not only reflect hard work and dedication but also open doors to the best opportunities,” he remarked.

“At London Academy Casablanca and Rabat, we believe that striving for excellence in exam performance of our students is crucial. The conference was attended by more than 120 Accredited British schools in the region.”

Nurturing Talent

One of London Academy’s most notable alumni is Idder Moutia, widely known as the “Moroccan programming prodigy.” Moutia has garnered accolades in programming, robotics, and various national and international competitions. He is now pursuing a degree in Computer Science at the University of Sheffield.

Celebrating Success

The OxfordAQA Go Further Awards ceremony recognizes the collaborative effort of students, teachers, and school leaders. In addition to honoring students for their achievements, the event acknowledged the pivotal role of teachers and schools in guiding their success.

This year’s conference, attended by representatives from more than 120 accredited British schools across the region, spotlighted the achievements of students from 98 schools in 19 countries. The awards covered 11 subjects, demonstrating the growing global influence of OxfordAQA qualifications.

Exploring the Future of Education

Beyond celebrating academic excellence, the event featured sessions addressing the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in education. Discussions focused on preparing students for an AI-driven world, equipping teachers to manage AI-enabled changes, and evaluating the merits of on-screen versus paper-based exams.

About the Awards

Launched in 2019, the OxfordAQA Go Further Awards recognize students in three categories: top in the country, top in the region, and top in the world. The awards are a collaboration between Oxford University Press, a department of the University of Oxford, and AQA, the UK’s largest provider of GCSEs and A-levels.

The achievements of Moroccan students at the 2024 Go Further Awards underscore the exceptional academic talent being cultivated at institutions like London Academy, setting a benchmark for excellence in education across the region.
