The Royal Armed Forces Receive the First Batch of Apache Helicopters in a Solemn Ceremony in Salé

An official ceremony was held this Wednesday, March 5, at the First Air Base in Salé to mark the reception of the first batch of six Apache AH-64E attack helicopters, a major milestone in the modernization of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR). This event was organized in accordance with the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the FAR.
The event brought together several high-ranking officials, including Abdeltif Loudyi, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of National Defense Administration, Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Industry and Trade, and Fouzi Lekjaa, Minister Delegate to the Minister of Economy and Finance in charge of the Budget.
On the military side, the ceremony was attended by General Mohamed Berrid, Inspector General of the FAR and Commander of the Southern Zone, General Mohamed Haramou, Commander of the Royal Gendarmerie, and Air Division General Mohamed Gadih, Inspector of the Royal Air Forces.
The reception was also attended by a high-level U.S. delegation led by General Michael Langley, Commander of AFRICOM, and Aimee Cutrona, Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Morocco.
The acquisition of these helicopters is part of the FAR’s strategic modernization plan, driven by King Mohammed VI, aimed at strengthening the Kingdom’s defense capabilities. Beyond its military significance, this acquisition also underscores the strong strategic partnership between Morocco and the United States in the fields of security and defense.
