Enhancing bilateral cooperation was at the heart of talks between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, and the President of the Île-de-France region, Valérie Pécresse, in Rabat on Tuesday.
Following the discussions, Pécresse stated that Morocco will be the first country with which the Île-de-France region would seal two cooperation agreements: one with the Casablanca-Settat region and the other with the Marrakech-Safi region.
She pointed out that the Île-de-France region has already invested one million euros in projects in Casablanca-Settat, noting that her visit to Morocco will be an opportunity to inaugurate many of these “very fine achievements.”
These projects, she said, cover areas of digital training, training for non-graduate young people, particularly in the catering trade, and start-up incubators.
Following her visit to Casablanca, Pécresse will travel to Marrakech to learn about the fruits of the post-earthquake support provided to the Al Haouz region, and to sign a second partnership and cooperation agreement with the city.
Pécresse also reaffirmed that the future of the Southern provinces can only lie within the framework of Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara.
Accompanied by a large delegation from the Île-de-France Region (Paris area), the French official is visiting Morocco from April 21 to 24, focusing on strengthening cooperation around three shared priorities: innovation, education and sustainable development.
