Nigerien FM Praises Morocco’s Support for Sahel States Alliance Under HM the King’s Leadership

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Nigeriens Abroad of the Transitional Government of the Republic of Niger, Bakary Yaou Sangaré, praised Morocco’s support, under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, for the Alliance of Sahel States (AES).

“We conveyed the satisfaction of our authorities and our respective Presidents for all that Morocco has done to support us,” stated the Nigerien Foreign Minister in a press statement following the audience granted by the Sovereign to the Foreign Ministers of the three AES countries (Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso) on Monday at the Royal Palace in Rabat.

In this regard, he highlighted the Royal Initiative aimed at enabling Atlantic Ocean access for the Sahel countries, which he described as “a windfall for the three landlocked countries.”

He emphasized that Morocco was one of the first countries to show understanding toward the Alliance States, adding that the Kingdom has also demonstrated solidarity with these countries, without interfering in their internal affairs.

“We received advice from His Majesty the King, may God protect Him,” Sangaré continued, noting that the Sovereign “expressed Morocco’s willingness to stand by our side,” both at the bilateral level and within the framework of the Alliance.
