Sustainable Industrial Zones: Agreements Signed for MAD 989 Million in Investments under FONZID II

Partnership agreements related to the projects selected under the second edition of the Sustainable Industrial Zones Fund (FONZID II) were signed on Tuesday in Rabat, in the presence of the Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour.

A total of eight projects were selected following a call for projects, representing a total investment of nearly 989 million dirhams (MAD), including 138 million MAD funded by the Fund. The goal is to strengthen the supply of quality industrial land through the creation, expansion, and rehabilitation of industrial zones based on sustainable, inclusive, and competitive standards.

These projects include:

  • The creation of an industrial zone in Oued Zem
  • The creation of a new economic activity zone in Ameur
  • The development of an integrated and sustainable industrial park in Taroudant
  • The upgrading of the industrial zone in Ait Melloul and the multiservice center in the Ain Chkef industrial zone
  • The development of an industrial park in Mohammedia
  • The transformation of the industrial zone in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region into a green industrial zone
  • The creation of a Fertiparc in Khouribga

Speaking on this occasion, Minister Mezzour stated:

“The signed agreements strengthen our pursuit of developing an innovative model of sustainable industrial zones.”

He emphasized that this initiative will enhance the industrial land offering, stimulate investment, and improve the productivity and economic, social, and environmental performance of businesses established in Morocco.

Furthermore, Mr. Mezzour reaffirmed his department’s commitment to making these projects models of success and levers for development, with the goal of positioning Morocco as a regional leader in sustainable industry.

For his part, Akram Allaoui, Director of Industrial Zones at the Ministry of Industry and Trade, noted that these strategic partnership agreements aim to achieve three main goals:

  1. Rehabilitate and modernize existing industrial zones
  2. Develop new industrial zone projects
  3. Create new industrial zones dedicated to the commerce sector

The fund supports selected projects with grants covering up to 50% of the total investment, capped at MAD 30 million for new or expansion projects, and MAD 20 million for rehabilitation projects.

Through this support, FONZID II aims to contribute to:

  • Enhancing territorial attractiveness
  • Creating sustainable jobs
  • Accelerating the transition to a greener and more resilient industry

Launched by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, FONZID II is a continuation of the first edition of FONZID, jointly implemented by the Ministry and the MCA-Morocco Agency under the “Compact II” cooperation program, established between the Government of the Kingdom of Morocco and the Government of the United States of America, represented by the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).
