PAM National Council: Mehdi Bensaïd Delivers Unfiltered Diagnosis and Calls for Political Awakening
At the 30th session of the National Council of the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM)—held amid a politically sensitive and high-stakes climate—Mehdi Bensaïd, a prominent member of the political bureau, delivered a speech that was both mobilizing, clear-sighted, and unapologetically critical. He assessed the national and international political landscape and called for a moral recalibration of partisan action.

Tribute to Royal Diplomacy
Opening his remarks, Bensaïd praised what he described as a strategic victory for Morocco in the Sahara issue, asserting that these achievements are neither accidental nor circumstantial, but the result of a strategic, coherent, and well-structured diplomacy under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
“While the world is shaken by military and economic conflicts, Morocco continues on a path of peace and development, focusing on major investments in its southern provinces,” he said, commending the “exemplary royal diplomacy that blends foresight with efficiency.”
From the Green March to Marching Toward the FutureReflecting on the upcoming 50th anniversary of the Green March, Bensaïd urged the revival of the spirit of national unity that defined 1975.
“Today, we are witnessing a march of minds—toward a Morocco investing in major industries, renewable energy, infrastructure, and ambitious social policy. It is this momentum we must resolutely defend.”
He delivered a unifying message, calling on all ideological camps to rise above partisan divides:
“Whether left or right, conservative or progressive, now is the time for patriotic convergence around what truly matters: unity, dignity, and sovereignty.”
Palestine: A Constant Cause
On the international front, Bensaïd reaffirmed PAM’s unwavering commitment to the Palestinian cause, strongly condemning atrocities in Gaza and reiterating Morocco’s clear and firm position.
“Morocco’s stance is clear, firm, and consistent—supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. PAM remains committed to supporting the Palestinian Authority and the creation of an independent State with Al-Quds as its capital.”
Warning Against Partisan Drift
In a sharper tone, Bensaïd cautioned the political class, including his own party members, against short-sighted political maneuvering that, in his view, undermines public trust.
“Our party has never been an opportunistic electoral machine. We spent over a decade in the opposition out of conviction—and we now serve in government with the same sense of duty, placing people at the heart of public policy, in line with His Majesty’s vision.”
He reaffirmed PAM’s dedication to the Equity and Reconciliation Commission’s recommendations and the Fiftieth Anniversary Report, framing them as foundations for responsible and sustainable political action.
A Notable Political Comeback: Hicham El Mhajri
The session also saw the return of Hicham El Mhajri to the party’s Political Bureau, following his suspension in November 2022. His reinstatement, along with that of Adil El Bitar, was announced by Fatima-Zahra Mansouri, coordinator of the party’s collective leadership.
The return was warmly welcomed by Council members and hailed as a “significant gain” by Ahmed Touizi, head of PAM’s parliamentary group. Once sanctioned for a position considered inconsistent with the party’s stance within the ruling coalition, El Mhajri now returns in a spirit of reconciliation and unity.
With this powerful and candid address, Mehdi Bensaïd reaffirms PAM’s determination to be a structuring force in Moroccan politics—attuned to citizens’ aspirations, committed to national and international causes, and ready to help forge a new, more ethical and human-centered political contract for the future.
