5th Session of Morocco-UK Strategic Dialogue, New Chapter in Bilateral Partnership- British Foreign Secretary
Rabat - The Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, David Lammy, reaffirmed on Sunday in Rabat the United Kingdom’s commitment to elevating its strategic partnership with Morocco to a higher level.

Speaking at a press briefing following the 5th session of the Strategic Dialogue between the two Kingdoms—co-chaired with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita—Lammy emphasized that the meeting marked “a new era of partnership between the two countries,” grounded in the “historic and lasting ties between the Royal Families” and a friendship spanning over eight centuries.
“I look forward to working together to elevate our partnership to even more ambitious levels,” he added.
The British Foreign Secretary also welcomed the transformation dynamic underway in the Kingdom of Morocco under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, commending the steady and growing evolution of bilateral relations in line with the Sovereign’s High Vision.
“Our partnership fosters prosperity, security, and productivity for both Britons and Moroccans,” he stated.
The 5th session of the Strategic Dialogue was marked by the signing of several memoranda of understanding and cooperation agreements in key areas such as migration, counterterrorism, education, climate change, health, and infrastructure development. These aim to boost economic exchanges and open new prospects for shared growth and development between the two Kingdoms.
On the diplomatic front, the British official reiterated both countries’ commitment to an international order based on the rule of law and the core principles of the United Nations Charter, emphasizing “the importance of respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of States.”
He further stated that strengthening relations with friendly countries such as Morocco is a central pillar of the United Kingdom’s strategy in Africa, in line with its pragmatic and progressive approach to foreign policy.
Launched in London on July 5, 2018, this Strategic Dialogue serves as an important mechanism to consolidate the historic ties between the two Kingdoms and to further reinforce and deepen bilateral relations.
