HM the King Performs Eid Al-Adha Prayer, Receives Greetings on Joyous Occasion

Tetouan - His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, may God assist Him, accompanied by HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, HRH Prince Moulay Rachid, HH Prince Moulay Ahmed, and HH Prince Moulay Ismail, performed the blessed Eid Al-Adha prayer on Saturday, 10 Dhu al-Hijjah 1446 AH, corresponding to June 7, 2025, at the Hassan II mosque in Tetouan.

 

Numerous citizens lined the route taken by the royal procession to share the joy of this blessed day with His Majesty the King and to wish Him a happy festival and a long life.

Upon His arrival at the mosque, the Sovereign reviewed a detachment of the Royal Guard who presented the honors.

After the Eid prayer, the Imam highlighted in his sermon the profound spiritual meanings of Eid Al-Adha, which crowns the first ten days of Dhu al-Hijjah, noting that this festival is not a fleeting occasion; it embodies strong religious significance illustrating the deep attachment of the people to the various aspects of the Holy religion, and their willingness to draw closer to the Almighty, striving to consolidate social and family ties through this sacred event. 

In accordance with the responsibility vested in His Majesty the King, as Commander of the Faithful, protector of the cults of religion, and with His Will to remove inconvenience and prejudice, and to encourage facilitation in compliance with the Quranic verse: “He has laid no hardship upon you in religion,” the Sovereign has invited His dear people this year to abstain from performing the rite of Eid sacrifice, the Imam recalled.

“His Majesty the King, may God glorify Him, will perform the Eid sacrifice rite, on behalf of His people, in keeping with the Sunnah of His forefather the Prophet, may peace and blessings be upon Him, when He immolated two sheep, saying: “This one is for me, this other one is in on behalf of my Ummah,” he added. 

The Imam concluded by praying the Almighty to preserve HM the King, to crown His deeds with success for the benefit of His faithful people, and to fulfill Him in the persons of HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, HRH Prince Moulay Rachid, and all the members of the Illustrious Royal Family.

He also offered prayers for the souls of the late Sovereigns, HM King Mohammed V and HM King Hassan II, may God welcome them into His Holy Mercy.

HM the King was then greeted by the heads of Islamic diplomatic missions accredited to Morocco, who extended to Him their greetings and best wishes.

Subsequently, HM the King performed the ritual of sacrifice in His name and in the name of His faithful people, as cannon shots rang out to mark this festive day.

On this occasion, His Majesty the King, Commander of the Faithful, May God assist Him, accompanied by HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, HRH Prince Moulay Rachid, and HH Prince Moulay Ahmed, received greetings from the Head of Government; the presidents of the two Houses of Parliament; the deputy president of the Supreme Council of the Judicial Power, First President of the Court of Cassation; the president of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, Crown Attorney at the Court of Cassation; the presidents of constitutional bodies, and several high-ranking civilian and military personalities.
