The CGEM on an economic mission to Korea to further boost bilateral cooperation
An important delegation from the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) began a mission on Monday in Seoul, South Korea, aimed at further energizing bilateral economic relations and identifying new opportunities for cooperation and investment between Moroccan and Korean companies.
Led by the President of CGEM, Chakib Alj, the delegation is made up of companies operating in the automotive, plastics, chemical and para-chemical industries, agro-food, heavy industry, pharmaceuticals, mining, renewable energies, and new technologies sectors.
The first stop of this mission took the Moroccan delegation to the Incheon Free Economic Zone (IFEZ), in the presence of Chafik Rachadi, His Majesty the King’s Ambassador to the Republic of Korea.
On this occasion, Wonsok Yun, commissioner of IFEZ, presented to the delegation members the dynamic ecosystem of this zone, which today hosts more than 300 foreign companies active in various sectors, including manufacturing and research and development.
A highlight of this visit was discovering the Smart City Integrated Operation Center (SCIOC), a central platform operational since 2012 that coordinates in real time key urban services such as traffic management, emergency response, environmental monitoring, and infrastructure maintenance.
Moreover, on Sunday, the delegation visited the Samsung Innovation Museum (SIM) in Suwon, near Seoul. This immersive visit allowed tracing the history of major innovations of the Korean giant, from its early electrical appliances to the most advanced technological solutions.
The mission continues until June 13 and will include meetings with leading Korean companies, encounters with Korean professional organizations, notably the Korea International Trade Association (KITA) and the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), as well as B2B meetings and sector-specific sessions.
