Morocco To Draw Action Plans for National Livestock Replenishment
Rabat - In execution of the High Guidelines of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, calling for the steady replenishment of the national livestock herd, a meeting was held on Friday at the Ministry of the Interior, to draw up action plans and programs for livestock replenishment to be implemented in touch with the sector's realities and needs.

The meeting provided an opportunity to highlight the vital importance of this operation in enhancing the productivity of the livestock sector and guaranteeing its sustainability, according to a press release from the Ministry of Interior.
It also aims to bolster the Kingdom’s food sovereignty while supporting livestock farmers and improving their ability to cope with economic and climatic challenges, particularly in the face of consecutive drought years. This will be achieved through the creation of a detailed national digital database concerning livestock and their owners, in line with a global strategic vision based on the digitization of procedures.
To this end, the main points of the joint circular regulating the national livestock replenishment operation were presented, with a focus on the adopted governance model, based on a clear identification of the roles, responsibilities and missions entrusted to various stakeholders in this national project, through the establishment of a central steering committee chaired by the Ministry of the Interior, a joint technical commission among the relevant departments of the Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, and local commissions chaired by Walis and governors.
The meeting was attended by Ministers of the Interior, of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, and the Minister Delegate to the Minister of the Economy and Finance in charge of Budget, as well as several other central officials from the ministerial departments concerned.
Regional Walis and governors of the Kingdom’s provinces, prefectures and arrondissement prefectures, as well as representatives of the Economy and Finance and Agriculture departments at regional, prefectural and provincial level, also took part in the meeting via videoconference.
