Morocco – Ethiopia: Abdeltif Loudyi Receives the Minister of Defence of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia—A New Era of Military Cooperation

Acting on the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Abdeltif Loudyi, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of National Defence Administration, received Ethiopian Minister of Defence Aysha Mohammed Mussa on Tuesday in Rabat, accompanied by a high‑level delegation on a working visit to Morocco.

This meeting formed part of the ongoing drive to strengthen bilateral relations and was marked by the signing of a comprehensive military‑co‑operation agreement, in the presence of Lieutenant General Mohammed Berrid, Inspector‑General of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and Commander of the Southern Zone.

The agreement provides a broad framework for collaboration in several key areas:

  • training of military personnel;
  • joint exercises;
  • scientific research;
  • military health;
  • exchange of experience and expertise.

It also establishes a joint military commission that will define partnership priorities and meet alternately in Rabat and Addis Ababa.

During their discussions, the two ministers reviewed prospects for developing military and security co‑operation between their countries and applauded the respective contributions of Morocco and Ethiopia to peace and stability across the African continent.

The visit likewise highlighted the many South‑South co‑operation and regional‑integration initiatives championed by the Kingdom under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI—initiatives that confirm Morocco’s role as a central actor in Africa’s development and stability.

At the close of the meeting, both sides expressed a shared determination to deepen their partnership, notably through the effective implementation of the newly signed agreement and by multiplying exchanges between senior military officials of the two nations.
