Morocco Well Placed to Promote Peace, Prosperity in MENA Region – Panamanian FM
Rabat - Morocco is well placed to contribute to promoting peace and prosperity in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, said on Monday in Rabat, Panamanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Javier Martínez-Acha Vásquez, who is on a working visit to the Kingdom.

Speaking during a joint press briefing with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, the Panamanian head of diplomacy underlined the Kingdom’s key role in regional stability.
Concerning the Moroccan Sahara issue, Martínez-Acha Vásquez, underscored the constructive momentum on the subject under the impetus of HM King Mohammed VI, recalling that Panama, as a non-permanent UN Security Council member, considers the autonomy initiative as “the most serious, credible and realistic basis” to resolve the regional dispute.
The autonomy initiative “should be the only solution for the future,” he stressed.
He also welcomed the quality of the ties of friendship and cooperation between Morocco and Panama, expressing his country’s desire to further strengthen its relations with the Kingdom.
“The Republic of Panama and the Kingdom of Morocco have established a lasting friendship,” the Panamanian Minister said, adding that over the years, the two countries have forged close relations based on the principles of mutual respect, trust and dialogue.
In this context, he stressed the importance of bolstering cultural ties between the peoples of the two countries, who share the same values of dialogue and peace, noting that bilateral relations of “sincere and solid” friendship are an example to follow for a more balanced, humane and peaceful world.
