Fouzi Lekjaa and Walid Regragui Meet with Heads of Moroccan Media Outlets
The President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), Fouzi Lekjaa, met today with directors and senior figures from Morocco’s media institutions, joined by national team coach Walid Regragui. During the meeting, Lekjaa reaffirmed the country’s clear objective: to win the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) at home and finally break the long-standing curse that has lasted since Morocco’s only title back in 1976.

He stated that the El Barid and Moulay El Hassan stadiums will be ready by August. The other venues in Casablanca (Mohamed V Stadium), Fez, Marrakech, Agadir, Rabat and Tangier will all be ready by September at the latest.
Lekjaa also praised Wydad Casablanca fans for traveling to the United States to support their team during the FIFA Club World Cup, calling them “incredible and passionate.”
In a confident and rallying address, Lekjaa said:
“Morocco is ready. We will host an exemplary AFCON in every aspect.”
“Our goal is clear: to win the Africa Cup in our nation and finally break the curse that has cast us since 1976.”
Regragui: “An AFCON to mark history.”
For his part, Walid Regragui underlined the historical importance of this home edition.
“We’ve been dreaming of lifting this trophy for fifty years. My ambition is to turn that dream into a reality for the entire nation.”
Through this meeting, both men called on the media to play their key role in the national effort: to rally support, unite the public and carry the hope of a continental victory that would leave a lasting mark on Moroccan football.
