Walid Regragui, Morocco’s Football Ambassador at the Prestigious RFEF International Coaches Congress in Madrid
Morocco’s national team coach, Walid Regragui, proudly represented the country on Friday, June 20, in Madrid at the first edition of the International Football Coaches Congress, hosted by the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF). The high-profile event brought together over 550 coaches from across the globe and served as a platform for some of the most influential voices in modern coaching.

Held in the elegant setting of the Meliá Castilla Hotel, Regragui took part in a high-level roundtable alongside renowned figures from the world of football, including Spain’s head coach Luis de la Fuente, former Ecuador coach Gustavo Alfaro, and legendary Uruguayan fitness coach Profe Ortega.
In his address, Walid Regragui spoke with humility and insight about the symbolic and emotional weight of his role. “Being the national coach of Morocco is much more than just a job. It’s a national mission carried by millions of passionate fans. The pressure is immense, but it also fuels a relentless drive,” he told an audience of coaches who were clearly moved by his sincerity.
Beyond tactics and training methods, the congress highlighted broader challenges such as group management, the need for continuous education for elite coaches, and the importance of adapting strategies to each country’s social and cultural context.
Regragui’s presence was especially well received by the Spanish organizers, who see him as a rising figure in international coaching. Through his career and football philosophy, he represents a new generation of African technical leaders capable of showcasing the continent on the world stage.
By bringing together the game’s most influential minds, the RFEF aims to use this congress to underline the crucial role coaches play in the evolution of global football, not only on a sporting level but also in its broader social impact.
