Parlacen Reaffirms Support for Morocco’s Autonomy Initiative for Sahara, Territorial Integrity
San Salvador - The Central American Parliament (Parlacen) reaffirmed, in San Salvador, its support for Morocco’s autonomy initiative for the Sahara, as well as the Kingdom’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty.

In a resolution unanimously adopted during a General Assembly meeting on Wednesday, Parlacen expresses its support for the autonomy plan presented by the Kingdom of Morocco as “the only serious, pragmatic, and credible solution to the Sahara conflict,” and reaffirms its backing for the Kingdom’s territorial integrity.
In this context, the Central American Parliament called on the international community to support diplomatic and political efforts aimed at reaching a definitive and peaceful solution to this artificial dispute, one that should guarantee regional stability and respect for Morocco’s sovereignty.
As a democratic forum for regional political consultation, Parlacen also underscored its responsibility to promote respect for international treaties governing the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states. In this regard, it affirmed its commitment to supporting Morocco’s position and its legitimate right to preserve its territorial integrity.
Furthermore, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Morocco’s accession to this regional organization as an observer member, Parlacen highlighted the close ties with the Kingdom, noting that this partnership reflects a shared commitment to political dialogue, parliamentary consultation, and the promotion of peace, stability, and sustainable development at the international level.
Parlacen also praised the pioneering role played by Morocco, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, in fostering dialogue and international consultation in favor of peace.
Morocco’s Upper House Speaker Mohamed Ould Errachid participated, alongside the Salvadoran Vice President Félix Ulloa, in the opening of the Parliamentary Economic Forum on Investment and Development, held in San Salvador.
On this occasion, Ould Errachid welcomed Parlacen’s positions in support of the Kingdom’s territorial integrity and its sovereignty over its Sahara.
Subsequently, he was awarded a certificate recognizing the role of the House of Councillors in strengthening cooperation with Latin American parliaments. The certificate acknowledged Morocco’s autonomy initiative as the only solution to bring the artificial regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara to a close.
A delegation from the Central American Parliament, led by its President Carlos Hernandez, visited the Kingdom from April 14 to 19. During their visit to Laayoune, they signed the “Laayoune Declaration,” which commends the new development model for the Southern Provinces, as well as the stability and prosperity prevailing there under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
