Morocco Arrests Daesh Supporter Suspected of Plotting Major Terrorist Attack
Rabat - Moroccan security forces arrested, on Friday in Rabat, a 21-year-old woman affiliated with the terrorist organization “Daesh”, suspected of preparing a high-risk terrorist plot, the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ) said on Saturday.

The suspect, a student at a technical institute, was detained based on intelligence provided by the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST).
The arrest followed joint operational cooperation and intelligence coordination between DGST and French intelligence services, which helped identify the suspect, monitor her extremist plans and foil her terrorist plot before it reached the execution phase, the BCIJ said in a statement.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect had indeed begun preparing terrorist plots by acquiring skills in bomb-making and poison preparation, as well as obtaining some of the necessary equipment, with the aim of carrying out a terrorist attack initially targeting a religious site in Rabat.
Searches conducted at her residence uncovered flammable materials, handwritten notes inciting extremism, and books promoting fanaticism, intolerance, and radicalism.
The suspect has been placed in custody as part of a judicial investigation led by the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations, under the supervision of the Public Prosecutor’s Office in charge of terrorism cases. The investigation aims to determine who was behind her recruitment and radicalization to this advanced stage, and to uncover any potential connections to terrorist organizations.
This operation once again underscores the importance and effectiveness of proactive measures in countering the terrorist threats facing our country, particularly amid continued efforts by global terrorist organizations and their regional affiliates to intensify attempts targeting the Kingdom’s security and the safety of its citizens.
It also reflects the significance of close bilateral cooperation between Morocco’s General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance and French security and intelligence services in the fight against terrorism and extremism.
