Casablanca–Settat Regional Utility Launches Integrated Stormwater Drainage System in Mohammedia

The Casablanca–Settat Regional Multiservices Company announced on Monday the ongoing construction of an integrated stormwater collection and drainage system in the city of Mohammedia, with a total investment nearing 140 million dirhams.

In an official statement, the company explained that “in order to strengthen stormwater management infrastructure and combat flooding in Mohammedia — particularly in several critical black spots — the Casablanca–Settat Regional Multiservices Company is carrying out this major structural project to establish an integrated drainage system, with a total value of approximately 140 million dirhams.”

The project involves the construction of an underground collector more than 3 kilometers long, reaching depths of up to 16 meters. It runs beneath several key roads in the city, including Al Houria, Al Moukaouama, Ryad, Mohammed VI, Tadla, and Palestine boulevards.

To minimize disruption for residents and traffic, the company noted that it is using modern underground boring techniques, allowing deep excavation without disturbing the urban surface. Additionally, the project timeline has been significantly reduced — from an initial 18 months down to just 6 months.

Through this ambitious initiative, the Casablanca–Settat Regional Multiservices Company reaffirms its commitment to modernizing hydraulic infrastructure across the region and to sustainably improving the living environment for local residents.
