Nigerian Senate President Hails Economic Partnership with Morocco

Abuja - The President of the Nigerian Senate, Godswill Akpabio, praised the dynamic economic relations with Morocco on Wednesday, describing it as an increasingly important partner sought after by all Nigerians in various sectors.

During a meeting held with the Moroccan Ambassador to Nigeria, Moha Ou Ali Tagma, the Senate President reaffirmed his country’s determination to strengthen bilateral relations with the Kingdom and to boost investment flows and cooperation in key economic sectors.

He noted that cooperation with the Kingdom is on the right track, as evidenced by Moroccan investments in the fertilizer sector in Nigeria.

The Senate President also highlighted the creation of a Nigeria-Morocco friendship group within the Nigerian parliament, which reflects Nigeria’s interest in strengthening existing ties with Morocco.

He further emphasized the prospects of bilateral partnership in the oil and gas sector, noting that Nigeria aspires to export its vast gas reserves through the African Atlantic Gas Pipeline project.

For his part, Tagma underlined the importance of strengthening relations between Morocco and Nigeria, two major players on the African continent, on multiple levels, including parliamentary cooperation.

The Moroccan diplomat extended an invitation to the President of the Nigerian Senate to visit Morocco in order to further consolidate the relations between the two countries.
