Extension of Stellantis Factory in Kenitra to Double Production Capacity -Govt. Head

Kenitra - The extension of the Stellantis Group factory in Kenitra will allow production capacity to double, with a targeted integration rate of 75% by 2030, underlined Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch on Wednesday in Kenitra.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the factory’s expansion, the Head of Government emphasized that this project represents a significant investment of €1.2 billion, including €702 million in supplier-related investments.

The project consolidates Morocco’s position as a continental leader in the automotive sector, with an annual production capacity projected to reach one million vehicles by 2030, he added, noting that it also positions the country as a future hub for investments related to sustainable and electric mobility, as well as innovative supply chains.

Beyond its economic impact, the expansion will generate new job opportunities, including the creation of 3,100 direct jobs, particularly benefiting young people in the region, he stressed. This will contribute to the objectives of the Employment Roadmap, which is a key priority for the government.

“This project embodies the ambitions of the new Investment Charter and Morocco’s industrial policies under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him,” Akhannouch affirmed, adding that this expansion supports the upscaling of national production, local integration, and the development of a structured and competitive economic fabric.

He further emphasized that it strengthens Morocco’s integration into the global value chain of electric vehicles, thanks to the increased annual production capacity of electric vehicles and charging stations.

The project also includes a component dedicated to engine production, further enhancing the sector’s positioning in high value-added vehicle segments, the Head of Government said. He noted that the successful realization of this project is the result of a strong commitment on both sides and exemplary collaboration between public and private stakeholders at both national and regional levels.

According to Akhannouch, this expansion represents a major step forward in the exemplary and long-standing partnership between the Kingdom and the Stellantis Group.
