Morocco’s Top Senator Receives Vietnamese Peer

Rabat - Speaker of Morocco’s House of Councillors, Mohamed Ould Errachid, received, on Friday in Rabat, President of the National Assembly of Vietnam, Tran Thanh Ma, and his accompanying delegation.

The meeting provided an opportunity for Ould Errachid to delve into the excellent ties between the two countries at several levels, noting that these ties, anchored in history, are based on deep human links, as well as cooperation, mutual respect, consultation and coordination on issues of mutual interest, the Upper House said in a press release.

During this meeting, the Upper House Speaker, quoted in the press release, underlined the shared principles and values between the two countries, which have represented the essence of their respective fights against colonization, in line with the principles of respect for countries’ sovereignty and their territorial integrity, the rejection of any form of interference in their internal affairs, pointing out that these are UN principles, which represent the basis of any international cooperation based on mutual respect.

This visit marks a new milestone in strengthening these ties, he maintained, adding that it reflects the firm and ongoing commitment to developing and raising bilateral ties to higher levels, in line with the High Guidelines of His Majesty King Mohammed VI calling for openness to partners in different geopolitical areas.

In the context of parliamentary cooperation, Ould Errachid highlighted the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in consolidating bilateral relations between friendly countries and in promoting understanding, dialogue, and convergence of views on common issues.

This diplomacy, he noted, aims to strengthen the exchange of expertise and successful experiences in the areas of parliamentary action between the two legislative institutions through joint programs that can contribute to raising the level of legislative performance and monitoring and strengthening the role of parliaments in serving the interests of friendly peoples.

For his part, Tran Thanh Man expressed his satisfaction with the level of relations between the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Kingdom of Morocco, expressing his admiration for Morocco’s development at all levels.

He also stressed the need to double efforts to strengthen economic cooperation, emphasizing his country’s willingness to develop and diversify this cooperation to cover various key areas.
