Tetouan - As part of the Moroccan people's celebration of the 26th anniversary of His Majesty King Mohammed VI's accession to the Throne of His glorious ancestors, Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit held a working meeting Friday in Tetouan with the walis and governors, officials at the territorial and central administrations of the Ministry of the Interior.

According to a statement from the Ministry, the meeting was attended by the Lieutenant General, Commander of the Royal Gendarmerie, the Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, the Director General of Research and Documentation, the Delegate General for Prison Administration and Rehabilitation, the Major General, Inspector of Auxiliary Forces (Northern Zone), the Brigadier General, Director General of Civil Protection, and the Brigadier General, Inspector of Auxiliary Forces (Southern Zone).

It was an opportunity to reflect on the High Royal Guidelines contained in the Throne Speech on July 29, 2025, which constitutes a roadmap for all components of the Ministry of the Interior to fulfill various responsibilities relating to the management of public affairs, as well as a real source of motivation to continue the commitment to social issues in all regions, prefectures, and provinces of the Kingdom.

To this end, emphasis was placed on the importance of the development model for Southern provinces and the major changes it has brought about in these beloved provinces, both in terms of infrastructure and projects, the use of natural resources, and investment in projects to the benefit of local population.

Taking into account the Royal High Vision, which places the security of citizens as a top priority in adressing the major national challenges, the meeting provided an opportunity to review the security threats and the sustained efforts deployed by security service, both in terms of proactive intervention to thwart terrorist plans aimed at the country’s security, and in the fight against crime in all its forms.

Moreover, the Ministry of the Interior expressed its firm commitment to taking all necessary measures to ensure the success of the upcoming electoral deadlines, following a participatory approach involving political parties, while ensuring the transparency of the entire electoral process.

In light of these major challenges, this important annual meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss various critical initiatives, including the continuation of efforts to empower regions to fully exercise their competencies, particularly the measures required to launch a ‘new territorial dynamic’, as well as to highlight the role of the National Initiative for Human Development as a key partner in national efforts to reduce disparities in access to infrastructure and to boost human capital.

At the end of this meeting, the Ministry of the Interior, with all its central, territorial and security components, reaffirmed its active and responsible adherence to the implementation of the High Royal Guidelines aimed at strengthening the democratic process and promoting development across the Kingdom, while reiterating its unwavering commitment to serving the nation and its citizens under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him.
