Strategic Partnership between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United States: General Mohammed Berrid Attends AFRICOM Change of Command in Stuttgart
In a new demonstration of the strength of the strategic partnership between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United States of America, General Mohammed Berrid, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces and Commander of the Southern Zone, took part on August 14 and 15, 2025, in the official change of command ceremony of US Africa Command (AFRICOM), held in Stuttgart, Germany.
The event marked the handover of responsibilities between American General Michael Langley and his successor, General Dagvin R. M. Anderson, in the presence of senior civilian and military delegations from the United States, Africa, and several other regions of the world.
Morocco’s participation, carried out under the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, highlights the Kingdom’s central role as a key partner in international efforts to promote peace, security, and stability across the African continent.
Beyond its protocol dimension, this major military gathering reflects Morocco’s ongoing commitment to strengthening defense partnerships, fostering the exchange of expertise with its allies, and actively contributing to the fight against terrorism as well as to the development of joint security capabilities in Africa.
