Tetouan Hosts Meeting on Implementation of New Generation of Territorial Development Programs

Tetouan - In line with the High Royal Instructions contained in the Throne Day speech of July 29, 2025, in which His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, called on the government to launch a new generation of territorial development programs and move from traditional frameworks of social development to an integrated approach to territorial development, a meeting was held on Friday in Tetouan, focused on the means of implementing this new development approach.

Held on the sidelines of the annual working meeting of the Minister of the Interior with the walis and governors, officials of the territorial administration and the central services of the ministry, this meeting saw the participation of the Ministers of the Interior; Equipment and Water; National Education, Preschool and Sports; Health and Social Protection; National Territorial Planning, Urban Planning, Housing, and Urban Policy; Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests; Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment, and Skills, as well as the walis and governors.

The meeting addressed ways to facilitate the implementation of this ambitious Royal Initiative, considered a national priority aimed at ensuring a dignified life for citizens through employment promotion, strengthening of basic social services, adoption of a proactive and sustainable water resource management model, and the launch of integrated territorial rehabilitation projects.

Participants acknowledged the weight of this responsibility, which requires redoubled efforts and continued commitment and mobilization to achieve the expected objectives of this major Royal Project. They emphasized the integrated nature of the planned programs, highlighting the importance of sustained efforts to ensure coordination and cross-sectoral cooperation, following a participatory approach that brings together the efforts of various local stakeholders.

They also expressed their commitment to aligning with the requirements of this new phase, through an approach aimed at consolidating integrated spatial development and results-based governance.

In this regard, participants stressed the need to work towards promoting harmony and convergence in public policies to meet citizens’ needs and achieve social and spatial justice.
