Qatar to Host Emergency Arab and Islamic Summit to Examine Repercussions of Israeli Attack

According to the Qatari news agency, citing well-informed sources, the summit will take place next Sunday and Monday to discuss the aggression that targeted, on Tuesday evening, a Hamas office in Doha. As of 11:20 GMT, no official response had yet been issued by the League of Arab States or the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Since Wednesday, Doha has received a series of visits from Arab and Muslim leaders expressing their solidarity, including the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; the Crown Prince of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah; the Crown Prince of Jordan, Hussein bin Abdullah II; and the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mohammed Shehbaz Sharif, who arrived on Thursday.

The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the attack, reaffirming Doha’s right to respond, after it claimed the life of a member of the internal security forces. Meanwhile, Hamas announced that its negotiation delegation, led by Khalil Al-Hayya, survived the assassination attempt. However, the director of its office, Jihad Ladd, his son Hammam Al-Hayya, and three of his bodyguards were reportedly killed.

The attack has sparked a wave of Arab and international condemnation, with repeated calls to end recurrent Israeli aggressions. At the same time, Qatar continues its mediation efforts, in coordination with Egypt and under U.S. sponsorship, to achieve a prisoner exchange and a ceasefire in Gaza.

This latest escalation is part of a series of Israeli military operations in recent months in multiple countries in the region, including Iran, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen, alongside the ongoing war that has ravaged the Gaza Strip for nearly two years and the growing tensions in occupied West Bank.
