Agadir Receives Its First Fleet of New Urban Buses: A Decisive Step Towards Modern Mobility
The city of Agadir has just crossed a major milestone in the modernization of its public transport network. This Saturday, October 25, the capital of Souss-Massa took delivery of an initial fleet of 70 brand new buses, out of a total of 247 vehicles planned under the initial phase of the national urban public transport program.

A Structuring Project for Agadir’s Mobility
This delivery marks the effective launch of the new national model for urban mobility, which aims to offer citizens a modern, safe, and environmentally respectful service.
In a statement to the press, Jamal Bargach, Operations Director at the Local Development Company Grand Agadir Transport and Mobility, indicated that further deliveries are expected in the coming days via the ports of Agadir and Casablanca.
He also specified that the operation of this fleet will be entrusted to a new operator by the end of the year, thus beginning a new era for collective transport in the southern metropolis.
Ambitious and Inclusive National Program
The national program for modernizing urban transport, overseen by the Ministry of the Interior, has an overall budget of nearly 11 billion dirhams.
This vast undertaking will benefit 37 delegating authorities, covering 84 cities and urban areas, and includes the acquisition of nearly 3,800 buses, as well as the implementation of intelligent management and passenger information systems.
As Younès El Kasmi, Governor Director of Urban Mobility and Transport at the General Directorate of Territorial Collectivities (DGCT), recalled, this program is based on a new delegated management model founded on service quality, performance, and innovation.
The arrival of this first fleet in Agadir illustrates the Kingdom’s commitment to promoting sustainable and inclusive urban mobility, serving the citizens and territorial development. This transformation, aligned with the High Royal Directives, places the city of Agadir at the forefront of Moroccan metropolises committed to a transition toward modern, efficient, and responsible public transport.
