United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Qatar Denounce Tehran’s Irresponsible Escalation
The military response launched by the Iranian regime following the strikes carried out by the United States and Israel has sparked strong indignation in the Gulf countries. Several capitals in the region have denounced what they describe as a dangerous and irresponsible escalation by Tehran, after a series of missile launches targeting not only Israel but also several neighboring Arab states.
According to various security and media sources, Iran launched missiles toward several countries in the region, notably the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and the Sultanate of Oman, triggering a diplomatic and security shockwave across the Gulf. Explosions were reportedly heard in several strategic areas, while casualties have been reported in some of the affected countries.
For Gulf capitals, these attacks once again illustrate what they describe as the destabilization policy pursued by the Iranian regime, which has long been accused of threatening regional security through its ballistic arsenal and its network of allied armed groups.
For several years, Gulf states have warned about the threat posed by the rapid development of Iran’s ballistic program. According to several security experts, Tehran now possesses an arsenal capable of striking vital infrastructure across the region, including oil facilities, power plants and seawater desalination plants on which Gulf countries heavily depend.
Concerns also focus on the potential disruption of global energy flows. The Strait of Hormuz, a strategic passage for oil trade, could be threatened in the event of prolonged military escalation.
Beyond the direct attacks, countries in the region also fear that Iran could activate its allied armed groups, notably the Houthis in Yemen or Hezbollah in Lebanon, which could open new fronts and plunge the region into an even wider cycle of conflict.
Faced with this explosive situation, several Gulf countries are calling on the international community to hold the Iranian regime accountable for its actions and to act in order to preserve regional stability. For these states, the latest strikes demonstrate that Tehran’s strategy does not only target its direct adversaries but now threatens the entire security balance of the Middle East.
