Middle East Crisis: Nasser Bourita Announces Emergency Measures to Assist Moroccan Nationals in the Gulf

In response to recent tensions in the Middle East, Morocco has swiftly activated an assistance mechanism for its citizens residing in Gulf countries. Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita stated that these measures were taken in accordance with high royal instructions, in order to ensure protection, support, and assistance for members of the Moroccan community.

In this context, a crisis unit has been set up both at the central level of the ministry and within Moroccan embassies and consulates in the region. This system operates continuously, with dedicated phone lines to address the concerns of Moroccans, whether residents, tourists, or those temporarily stranded. The objective is to guide them and facilitate their return, particularly in a context marked by the closure of several airspaces and the suspension of numerous flights.

The minister also highlighted the cooperation of host countries, which have taken measures to ensure the safety of foreign nationals and improve the conditions of those stranded, notably through the coverage of certain costs, visa extensions, and greater flexibility in airline tickets.

Thanks to these joint efforts, several Moroccan nationals have been able to leave the affected areas, either by land through neighboring countries or via rescheduled flights following an improvement in the security situation, including connections operated by Royal Air Maroc.

Moroccan authorities reaffirm their continued mobilization to support Moroccans abroad, ensuring that their needs are effectively addressed and their safety guaranteed under all circumstances.
