On Thursday, February 27, the Institut Supérieur de Journalisme et de Communication (ISJC) had the great honor of welcoming Mr. Mohamed Ouzzine, Secretary-General of the Popular Movement Party, 4th Vice President of the House of Representatives, and a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, National Defense, Migration Affairs, and Moroccans Residing Abroad (MRE).
This exceptional visit, marked by warmth and constructive exchanges, was part of a high-level academic meeting centered on the theme: “The Popular Movement Party: Future Perspectives and Sustainable Development Challenges in Morocco.” This highly relevant topic provided students with valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities related to sustainable development within the Moroccan context.
Upon his arrival, Mr. Ouzzine was greeted with deep respect and great consideration by ISJC’s administration, faculty, and students. His speech, both enlightening and engaging, shed light on the key pillars of the Popular Movement Party’s policies regarding sustainable governance, social justice, and territorial equity. He particularly emphasized the need to balance economic growth, natural resource preservation, and citizen well-being, while underlining the crucial role of youth in building a more prosperous and inclusive Morocco.
Far from being a mere academic lecture, this encounter was characterized by an open and dynamic dialogue between Mr. Ouzzine and ISJC’s journalism students. The students had the opportunity to interact with a key figure in Moroccan politics, asking pertinent questions about the strategic directions of the Popular Movement Party, youth involvement in political discourse, and the challenges journalism faces in addressing sustainable development issues.
Through this exchange, it became evident that journalism education cannot be confined to mastering technical skills alone but must also foster a deep understanding of the country’s political, economic, and social realities. Mr. Ouzzine praised the quality of the students’ questions, acknowledging their commitment and eagerness to actively contribute to public debate.
This enriching encounter will remain engraved in the memories of ISJC students, further strengthening the bond between Moroccan youth and the country’s institutions. The institute reaffirms its mission to train well-informed and responsible journalists, capable of accompanying and reflecting the major transformations of Moroccan society.
