Gitex Africa Morocco is much more than a tech fair, it is a space for bold ideas and constructive dialogue, the President of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), Chakib Alj, said on Monday in Marrakech.
This large-scale event brings together decision-makers, visionaries, investors, entrepreneurs, and various industry players who “not only imagine the future but are actively building it,” emphasized Alj at the opening of the “GITEX Africa Morocco 2025” tech fair, organized under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and running until April 16.
Gitex Africa is growing in scale and gaining influence, reinforcing Africa’s increasing role on the global tech scene, he added, noting that, beyond its prestige, this gathering also embodies the vision of a continent that “embraces innovation to tackle its most urgent challenges—not by following traditional development paths, but by bypassing them”.
Technology offers Africa a unique opportunity to transcend conventional barriers and create solutions tailored to its specific realities, he said, stressing that Gitex Africa Morocco is “a catalyst” for this transformation.
The CGEM president also recalled that Morocco has launched an ambitious digital strategy, with 2030 as its horizon, placing talent development at its core. The goal is to train and attract 100,000 digital professionals per year to meet growing demand in key fields such as AI and cybersecurity.
He further stressed that by 2030, Morocco aims to provide 5G coverage for 70% of its population—a key milestone as the Kingdom prepares to co-host the FIFA World Cup 2030 with Spain and Portugal.
