Two-State Solution, Foundation of Arab Peace Initiative- Arab League Assistant SG

The two-state solution, a fundamental element of the Arab League’s position, constitutes the basis upon which the Arab Peace Initiative is built, Zaki said at a press conference on Tuesday, following the proceedings of the 5th meeting of the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, organized by Morocco in partnership with the Netherlands.

“We still believe in this solution and continue to support it as the foundation for peace in the Middle East,” he added, noting that the Rabat meeting is of major importance in the context of preparations for the international conference to be held in New York next month, in accordance with a resolution adopted by the General Assembly.

He also recalled the dire situation prevailing in the Gaza Strip due to the ongoing Israeli aggression and the attempt to forcibly displace its population, in defiance of “international law, international humanitarian law, and the human values we are all supposed to uphold.”

The Palestinians have the right to aspire to peace, independence, and freedom, he added, expressing his gratitude to the Kingdom of Morocco for organizing the meeting.
