Zemmama, 50, who currently works as a commercial director in Macao, reached the 8,848-meter summit with the support of Chatur Tamang, an experienced Sherpa and close friend. Tamang, who also leads ChaTours Treks and Expedition Pvt. Ltd., organized and guided the expedition under favorable weather conditions.
“This climb was extremely challenging,” Zemmama noted. “Without Chatur, I wouldn’t have made it. This summit is for my father, whose spirit encouraged me to start this incredible journey.”
Although this was her first trip to Nepal, Zemmama expressed heartfelt admiration for the country and its people. “Nepal has truly touched my heart. It feels like a second home, and I hope to return many times,” she said.
In preparation for Everest, Zemmama completed a climb of Island Peak, also with Tamang’s guidance, as part of her acclimatization strategy.
Remarkably, Zemmama only began mountaineering in 2023, with her debut ascent being Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. She has since summited Kilimanjaro twice, as well as Mount Elbrus in Europe, Aconcagua in South America, and now Everest in Asia.
With four peaks conquered, she is on track to complete the Seven Summits, needing only Denali (North America), Mount Vinson (Antarctica), and Carstensz Pyramid (Oceania) to finish the challenge.
A proud mother of three and grandmother of two, Zemmama sees her age not as a constraint but as an inspiration. “I want to show that dreams have no expiration date. My message is clear: ‘Yes We Can.’ No matter your age or background, it’s never too late to push your limits.”
Zemmama joins the ranks of pioneering women in mountaineering, proving that determination and courage can break barriers and blaze new trails for future generations.
