The opening session of the meeting, held under the theme “Football and Media in the Mediterranean: Building Bridges Beyond Borders,” was highlighted by keynote addresses from Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, and the President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) and Chairman of the 2030 World Cup Committee, Fouzi Lekjaa.
On the agenda of AMAN’s 33rd General Assembly—during which Morocco’s news agency MAP assumes the one-year presidency—is a panel discussion titled “FIFA World Cup 2030: Challenges and the Role of Mediterranean News Agencies,” featuring prominent figures from the worlds of football and media.
The event highlights large-scale projects implemented in Morocco under His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s leadership, ahead of the 2030 FIFA World Cup. It also offers a unique platform for dialogue and exchange between AMAN members and key players in the sports sector across the Mediterranean region.
An AMAN awards ceremony for the best news articles and press photos is also scheduled for the second day of the General Assembly.
Founded in 1991, AMAN brings together news agencies from the Mediterranean basin, along with observer members, including the Atlantic Federation of African Press Agencies (FAAPA).
AMAN’s goal is to strengthen the exchange of information, dialogue, and cooperation among Mediterranean news agencies.
