The Grand Stadium of Fez underwent a full rehabilitation in anticipation of the major sporting events Morocco will host in the coming years. Now equipped with a next-generation natural grass pitch, modern technological systems, and VIP areas meeting international standards, the stadium is a flagship venue in Morocco’s network of infrastructure serving both African and global football.
Morocco: A Continental and Global Benchmark
The excellence of Moroccan infrastructure is now beyond dispute. As a preferred host for major African competitions, Morocco has become a model for the entire continent. In this regard, the communications officer of the Tunisian Football Federation, upon arriving in Fez with the national team delegation on Wednesday, June 4, praised “the high level of organization and the impressive quality of Morocco’s sports infrastructure,” adding that “it is no surprise that Morocco is consistently chosen to host the biggest events in continental — and soon, global — football.”
The renovated stadium will host the much-anticipated friendly match between the Atlas Lions and the Tunisian national team on Friday, June 6. After their morning arrival in Fez, the Carthage Eagles will begin training this afternoon, with their final session scheduled for tomorrow on the Grand Stadium’s pitch.
The Grand Stadium of Fez is not an isolated case. Other major venues — in Casablanca, Marrakech, Tangier, and Agadir — have also been modernized as part of Morocco’s national sports development strategy. Under the visionary leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Morocco is building a lasting legacy for future generations, combining sporting excellence, territorial development, and international influence.
With such infrastructure, Morocco is not just preparing for competitions — it is shaping the future of football.
