Among the key outcomes of the British Foreign Secretary’s visit to Morocco, three major initiatives highlight the shared determination to strengthen academic and cultural ties between the two countries:
- A New Memorandum of Understanding in Higher Education:
This agreement aims to deepen research collaboration, promote university mobility, and encourage joint academic partnerships between Moroccan and British institutions. - Co-Funding English Teacher Training:
The Moroccan government, in partnership with the British Council, has committed to co-fund a national training program for English teachers, in line with the Ministry’s strategy to broaden access to high-quality English education. - Recognition of British Degrees in Morocco:
Both parties have agreed to recognize UK university degrees awarded locally, making world-class education more accessible to Moroccan students.
These initiatives reflect a shared ambition to foster sustainable exchanges between students, researchers, and institutions, while promoting innovation and academic excellence. The new MoU is a cornerstone for strengthening transnational education, advancing English as a language of instruction, and building even closer ties between the two higher education systems.
This progress builds on the foundation laid by the 2019 Higher Education Commission and includes the establishment of a Joint Steering Committee to support long-term academic and institutional mobility.
Through this renewed strategic dialogue, Morocco and the United Kingdom are reinforcing an exceptional relationship, future-oriented and dedicated to youth, knowledge, and shared innovation.
