In a joint statement issued at the end of the summit — which was attended on Monday by Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa, representative of His Majesty King Mohammed VI — participants announced strengthened bilateral and regional partnerships for the creation of new land and maritime links, the decarbonization of ports, and the deployment of new undersea cables.
They also discussed shared goals to ensure the decarbonization of the maritime sector and major Mediterranean ports, the strengthening of sea and land transport routes for the movement of goods and the transmission of green energy, as well as the development of digital connections between the Mediterranean and the Arabian Gulf.
The statement recalled that the Mediterranean Sea handles 25% of global maritime traffic and plays a central role in trade, energy, and digital exchanges.
The “For a Better-Connected Mediterranean” summit also brought together representatives of international organizations, development banks, and major companies.
