Marhaba 2025: Spanish Ferry Company Balearia Boosts Crossings Between Spain and Morocco

The company stated in a press release that traffic will be particularly reinforced on the routes Tarifa–Tangier Ville, Algeciras–Tangier Med, Almeria–Nador, and Motril–Tangier Med.

As part of this expansion, Balearia will operate for the first time on the Tarifa–Tangier Ville line, offering up to 12 daily departures using two high-speed vessels, marking a significant extension of its network toward Morocco.

Service will also be increased with:

  • Up to 9 daily departures between Algeciras and Tangier Med
  • 2 to 3 rotations per day between Almeria and Nador
  • A seasonal connection between Motril and Tangier Med, adjusted according to demand

“This is the largest schedule ever implemented for Operation Marhaba and reflects our commitment to efficient, passenger-focused mobility for those crossing the Strait each summer to reunite with loved ones,” said Georges Bassoul, CEO of Balearia, in the press release.

He added:

“North Africa is our main international market, and our goal is to provide a service that is reliable, competitive, and aligned with passenger expectations.”

For this operation, Balearia has mobilized a fleet of 10 recently refurbished vessels and increased its workforce with over 300 agents based in southern Spain and northern Morocco.
