The meeting was chaired by Mrs. Salma Benaziz, President of the Forum and Chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, National Defense, Islamic Affairs, Migration Affairs, and Moroccans Living Abroad in the House of Representatives. It provided an opportunity for the Bureau to review the final version of the Forum’s statutes, as adopted during the Forum’s second edition held in Rabat on February 20, 2025.

Discussions also addressed the preparations for the next session of the Forum, scheduled to take place in Morocco next year, under the theme: “Water, Energy, and Sustainable Development.”

Additionally, the Bureau examined mechanisms for cooperation among Forum members, and considered a proposal to establish five thematic working groups, which will be submitted for approval at the next Bureau meeting. A project to create a coordination mechanism aimed at promoting the Forum among international parliamentary bodies and relevant countries was also discussed.

The meeting also served as an opportunity to review the various challenges facing the African continent and to highlight the important role African parliaments can play in addressing them.

Participants included Mr. Aboubacar Sidiki Koné, Chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Malians Abroad, and African Integration of the Transitional National Council of the Republic of Mali; Mr. Vita Rashid Mfaume Kawawa, Chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the National Assembly of the United Republic of Tanzania; and Mrs. Isabel Eraul Ivina, Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Policy in the Chamber of Deputies of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea.
