Both officials discussed strategies to improve female labor force participation, with a focus on breaking down structural barriers to employment, advancing gender-responsive budgeting, and promoting inclusive economic models such as women’s cooperatives and the social economy.
Fettah emphasized that women’s employment is a strategic national priority, especially amid persistently high unemployment and the heightened vulnerability of women’s jobs during economic downturns. She pointed to Morocco’s progress in gender-responsive budgeting and underlined the need for improved impact assessments and measurable results.
For her part, Bergé stressed the importance of addressing deep-rooted inequalities that affect women’s access to the labor market, including gendered career paths, unequal caregiving responsibilities, and rigid work structures.
She also called for a more holistic approach that integrates gender equality into both corporate practices and public policy.
The meeting forms part of Bergé’s three-day official visit to Morocco aimed at reinforcing bilateral ties and cooperation on social, political, and economic issues, with a particular emphasis on advancing equality and inclusion.
