According to a statement from the BCIJ, the dismantling of this cell is part of preventive security operations intended to neutralize terrorist threats and foil subversive plots aimed at undermining the Kingdom’s security and stability, with the ultimate goal of seriously disrupting public order.
Searches conducted at the suspects’ residences uncovered a manuscript containing the “allegiance” text declared by the cell members to the so-called amir of the terrorist organization “Daesh,” as well as a recording documenting this “allegiance,” a flag referencing the organization, a black uniform consisting of pants and a jacket bearing extremist inscriptions, weapon mock-ups (a rifle with a scope and two pistols), and a set of electronic devices which will be subject to the necessary digital forensic analysis.
The field investigations carried out as part of this case revealed the seriousness of the terrorist projects planned by the members of this cell, in alignment with the subversive agenda of the “Daesh” organization, aimed at undermining the stability of the Kingdom. The same source specified that the suspects had already begun preparing to execute their terrorist project through field tests in a mountainous area of Tetouan, with the goal of manufacturing explosive devices.
The investigations also revealed that the suspects documented their allegiance to the current so-called amir of the “Daesh” organization through a manuscript and a video, in order to obtain support from the leadership of the organization for their terrorist plots, the statement added.
The four individuals arrested in connection with this case have been placed in custody for further investigation under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office in charge of terrorism affairs, to determine all the terrorist projects, networks, and potential connections of this cell.
