“Morocco boasts several key assets, including 23 data centers, among them the largest in Africa,” highlights the magazine in an article titled “Why Not a Moroccan Unicorn? AI at the Heart of the Kingdom’s Entrepreneurial Bet.”
The Kingdom aims to fast-track its digital strategy in the lead-up to the 2030 World Cup, the article notes, adding that this acceleration is part of the Digital Morocco 2030 program. With a total budget of MAD 11 billion, the initiative seeks to position Morocco as a regional digital hub.
The program also envisions centralizing all administrative procedures through a single digital platform, alongside the large-scale rollout of fiber-optic infrastructure.
“In short, a comprehensive modernization of infrastructure,” writes Challenges, emphasizing that “the country is well positioned on the African continent.”
The magazine adds that Morocco can also rely on a “forward-thinking youth,” especially in scientific disciplines. Several of the country’s preparatory programs are internationally recognized, and in France, Moroccans represent 21% of foreign students in engineering schools.
Challenges also highlights the planned opening of a Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) branch in Paris in January 2024. “The real challenge is bringing talent back,” the article notes.
Located just a few kilometers from Rabat, UM6P spans several hectares and features ultramodern buildings, soccer fields, and amphitheaters. “Excellence is the watchword here,” the article states.
