“The Kingdom has undergone remarkable growth, driven by a clear Royal vision oriented towards progress, stability and openness to the world”, he highlighted.
The former head of the Spanish government highlighted the reforms undertaken by the Kingdom since His Majesty the King’s accession to the Throne, in several key sectors, notably in relation to the empowerment of women, the development of new-generation infrastructure and the enshrining of diplomatic achievements.
These advances, he explained, have bolstered the Kingdom’s position on the global stage as a “trusted strategic partner for Europe, Africa and beyond”, thanks to the Royal Vision of modernization, which fosters a sustained development dynamic.
Zapatero also praised the central role played by the Kingdom in bringing the African and European continents, highlighting Morocco’s role as a “bridge of South-North dialogue and cooperation”.
With regards to Moroccan-Spanish relations, Zapatero welcomed their “positive and constructive” momentum, underlining the convergence of interests and the solidity of bilateral partnership.
On the question of the Moroccan Sahara, he stressed the relevance of the autonomy plan proposed by Morocco, welcoming the growing international support for this initiative.
The former head of Spanish government also expressed confidence in the Kingdom’s ability to successfully co-host the 2030 World Cup with Spain and Portugal, highlighting Morocco’s “professionalism” and “infrastructure”, as well as the “enthusiasm” of the Moroccan people.
