In a message filled with emotion and respect, President Lekjaa honored the memory of a man who left an indelible mark on the sporting history of the Kingdom. He recalled that Ahmed Faras was a cornerstone of the national team and the key architect of Morocco’s historic triumph at the 1976 Africa Cup of Nations. That same year, the late player was awarded the African Ballon d’Or, becoming the first Moroccan to receive this prestigious honor.
A symbol of loyalty, Faras never left his beloved club, Chabab Mohammedia, to which he dedicated his entire playing career. He embodied values of commitment, humility, and moral greatness.
His passing, on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, leaves an immense void in the hearts of fans, former teammates, athletes, and all those for whom football is more than a game—it is a source of national unity and collective pride.
