The meeting provided an opportunity to underscore the Upper House’s appreciation for the clear and frank positions of Zuma and his party in support of the Moroccan autonomy initiative, considered as the most appropriate framework for a genuine local governance in the southern provinces, while respecting the Kingdom’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, the House said in a press release.
In this respect, Zuma reaffirmed his belief in the historical and legal legitimacy of Morocco’s sovereignty over its Southern provinces, praising the responsible approach adopted by Morocco to recover its full territorial integrity.
The former South African President noted that this approach forms part of the MK Party’s commitment to preserving the sovereignty and unity of African states.
For his part, Ould Errachid welcomed the positions taken by Zuma and his party in support of Morocco’s legitimate right to definitively settle the artificial dispute over the Moroccan Sahara, stressing the importance of strengthening parliamentary cooperation as a fundamental lever for consolidating mutual understanding and unifying visions through active and responsible parliamentary diplomacy.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to underline Morocco’s wise African policy, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, based on solidarity, promoting mutual development and strengthening South-South cooperation, within the full respect of the sovereignty of States and their territorial integrity, as well as the non-interference in their internal affairs.
