This arrest is part of ongoing security operations to neutralize threats from terrorist organizations threatening Morocco’s security and the safety of its citizens, the BCIJ says in a statement.
According to initial findings, the individual in question, who expressed interest in manufacturing explosives and explosive belts, is suspected of plotting terrorist attacks likely to undermine public safety and order, the same source adds, noting that the suspect was in contact with one of the Maghreb leaders on the field of the “Daesh” organization, who incited him to carry out a terrorist project in the Kingdom and provided him with references and publications on how to manufacture explosives.
The preliminary investigation also revealed that the suspect had promoted, on media platforms, content relating to terrorist operations carried out by Daesh fighters and others inciting the execution of subversive projects.
The suspect was brought before the BCIJ, where he was placed in custody for further investigation under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office in charge of terrorism cases, in order to identify all the terrorist projects related to him and determine his possible links inside and outside Morocco, which highlights the resurgence of terrorist threats to the Kingdom, concludes the same source.
