Speaking at a conference held Thursday as part of TICAD, the head of the Moroccan delegation, Morocco’s Ambassador to Japan, Mohamed Rachad Bouhlal, presented the Royal Vision that places Africa’s sustainable development, peace, and security as an absolute priority. This vision, he explained, is embodied in major structural projects that reinforce the Kingdom’s leadership on the continent.
In this regard, Mr. Bouhlal highlighted several flagship initiatives spearheaded by Morocco under the impetus of His Majesty the King, notably the Royal Initiative to provide Atlantic access to the Sahel States. This initiative, he said, “aims to connect landlocked nations to global trade routes through Moroccan ports, foster regional value chains, and promote shared prosperity.”
The diplomat also presented the African Atlantic Gas Pipeline project, which he described as a “generational corridor” designed to enhance energy accessibility, boost industrialization, and strengthen South-South co-development.
The Rabat Process of the African Atlantic States was likewise cited among the emblematic initiatives carried out under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty the King.
Beyond these large-scale infrastructure projects, Morocco’s engagement in Africa is equally expressed through human development. The ambassador explained that the Kingdom works in cooperation with 49 African countries and trains thousands of students, engineers, and healthcare professionals by granting scholarships and by “promoting African expertise in Africa, for Africa.”
On issues of peace and security, the diplomat stressed the holistic approach advocated by Morocco, which considers peace, security, and development as an indivisible triptych.
Mr. Bouhlal concluded by recalling Morocco’s unwavering commitment during its two terms on the African Union Peace and Security Council, where it actively worked for conflict prevention and management in support of a peaceful, prosperous, and integrated Africa.
