The agreement was signed by CGEM president Chakib Alj and his Mexican counterpart, Alejandro Malagón Barragán, in the presence of Morocco’s ambassador to Mexico, Abdelfattah Lebbar. The memorandum calls for the organization of joint forums and trade fairs, the creation of dialogue platforms between economic operators, and the establishment of incentive mechanisms to encourage investment and bilateral exchanges. A joint commission will also be created to oversee and support cooperation projects.
In his remarks, Mr. Alj highlighted the importance of this new stage in economic relations between Rabat and Mexico. He recalled that Morocco has established itself as an industrial and commercial hub in Africa and a key player in several strategic sectors, including automotive, aerospace, textiles, pharmaceuticals, agribusiness, and renewable energies. These strengths, combined with the Kingdom’s political stability and modern infrastructure, open wide prospects for cooperation with Mexico.
For his part, Mr. Malagón Barragán praised the potential complementarities between the two economies, stressing that this partnership provides a solid platform for the development of joint projects, particularly in the pharmaceutical and food industries.
The signing forms part of an economic mission by CGEM to Mexico, held from September 22 to 25 in coordination with Morocco’s embassy. It reflects the shared determination of both countries to diversify their economic relations and build a mutually beneficial cooperation oriented towards the future.
