Rabat: Ordinary General Assembly of the Royal Moroccan Tennis Federation for the 2023–2024 Sports Season

A Season Rich in Sporting and Organizational Achievements

The moral report highlighted the main accomplishments and key activities that marked the past season in both tennis and padel. Among the standout events were the organization of major national competitions, including the Moroccan Championships by age category and the Throne Cup, along with prestigious international tournaments such as the Grand Prix Hassan II and the HRH Princess Lalla Meryem Grand Prix.

The report also commended the outstanding participation of Moroccan players in various African and international competitions, while emphasizing the Federation’s ongoing efforts to strengthen training programs for athletes and technical staff, and to provide continued support to clubs affiliated with the FRMT.

One of the report’s highlights was the historic achievement of young champion Malak Allami, who claimed the girls’ doubles title at the 2024 US Open Junior — a first for Moroccan tennis.

Governance, Development, and the Growth of Moroccan Tennis

The FRMT reaffirmed its commitment to modern and transparent governance, recalling the regular holding of general assemblies and the democratic election of its governing bodies, in accordance with its statutes. The Executive Board also undertook several institutional measures aimed at improving good governance and strengthening both administrative and technical operations.

The Federation’s technical department continues its efforts to identify and mentor young talents, promote tennis in schools, and enhance the continuous training of coaches. The FRMT also places particular emphasis on modernizing clubs and expanding access to tennis across the Kingdom.

Padel: A Rapidly Growing Discipline

Regarding padel, the Federation presented its roadmap for the structuring and development of this rapidly expanding sport. A consultation meeting recently brought together 22 active clubs and associations at the Federation’s headquarters, followed by training sessions focusing on technical, tactical, and regulatory aspects of the game.

In his address, FRMT President Fayçal Laraïchi stressed the importance of broadening the base of participants, a key condition for nurturing new generations of talent.

An Ambitious National Project for the Future of Moroccan Tennis

Mr. Laraïchi announced the signing of a partnership between the FRMT and the Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests for the creation of a National Tennis Center.

This large-scale project aims to provide Morocco with a modern infrastructure dedicated to the training and preparation of national teams. The future center will feature six tennis courts reserved for national team training, allowing for the organization of high-level intensive training camps.

As for padel, the president highlighted its remarkable momentum, with 4,500 licensed players in just three years, compared to 10,000 for tennis, expressing Morocco’s ambition to become one of Africa’s leading nations in the sport.
